Happy Birthday Mate!

We're home....

Albeit a little early, but we're home. I actually had a medical situation that forced us to cut our holiday short by a week. Fortunately for me, Diane & Carlos were around last Saturday to diagnose me with Bell's Palsy because I would have been pretty freaked out as the right side of my faced became paralyzed over the course of an hour. I was also lucky to have Jose, Albert, Carolyn & their clan to help me with the kids. My family ROCKS!!!

Since coming home and I found out that the Bell's Palsy was caused by Lyme's Disease. Not very nice, but at least I don't have to go to a neurologist. At this point I ain't looking too purty. I have actually been told that I look like Betty Lou Who when I laugh. I've seen myself laugh... and they were dead on.

I promise to post pictures of Portugal as soon as I am up to it...Beijinhos

March 2, 2006 ~ When I stopped "working" full time I thought I wouldn't appreciate snow days as much. Well I was very wrong. Today was a monumental day in our family. You see, our daughter has NEVER enjoyed the snow. She has always barely tolerating a walk in the snow. But today all of a sudden we couldn't get her to come in from the snow having to actually take turns outside with her until we dragged her in while explaining that when the sun goes down the day is over. That, plus pancakes for breakfast, coffee with our neighbor/landlord/brother & sister-in-law, & just hanging out all day being lazy made for a great snow day!

February 25, 2006 ~ ...this is how I found them this morning

Happy Birthday to Me -

A few days before my birthday my darling husband had surgery on a cyst that has been giving him grief for years. It was his way of making sure that he'd get breakfast in bed on MY BIRTHDAY. It sure was a memorable day. ps. Don't be fooled. He is not working, he's watching one of the 20 movies he lined up to watch while laid up in bed.

Thank goodness for my little girl who has been talking about making me a heart shaped cake since before Valentine's Day. Little did we know that Auntie Diane as well as Jen would also get cakes which means that we had three cakes on my birthday. Which of course means everyone sang Happy Birthday in three languages. What talented family/friends I have!!!

December 2005 - A belated thanks...I think.

For those of you who do not know our little boy had RSV (Respiratory syncytial virus) right after Christmas. This was a particularly crazy time for him as well as us. There was a visit to the ER (thank you Carlos & Kathy  for arranging such fantastic care) as well as daily visits to the pediatrician. As if that weren't bad enough, his big sister was also ill. In order to allow us to focus on the baby and not have him catch something else, Diane and Jose offered to take Monkey for a couple of weeks. Fortunately that wasn't necessary, but she did stay over there for three days. Not only did she receive loads of love, she also received medical attention both in the diagnosis as well as treatment of pink eye...Thanks Diane, Jose and girls.

I guess at some point in her visit Monkey asked her Aunt for a t-shirt to sleep in. Diane grabbed the first thing she saw and put in on my daughter. At some point Diane realized what was written on the shirt, but figured that Monkey couldn't read so it wasn't a problem. The story would end there except that Andrea came home and realized her cousin was wearing Ferbie's shirt and took pictures of the offence.

For those of you who do not know I get loads of c*@# from my my niece for having too many pictures of my daughter on kiwigalo. So I have to show you the picture that my globetrotting niece emailed me from Spain. Please do be warned that the picture you will see is intended only for mature audiences. click her to see...
